What characterizes Child Abuse
When parents go over the normal line in disciplining their child, it becomes abuse. This can be in multiple ways; it can be either physical, mental, sexual or medical.
When parents become abusive, they take it out on their children and cause child abuse. The main causes of this are:
-M
- Parents are under financial stress- When parents are under lots of stress from finances and other issues, they sometimes take it out on their children.
- The parents being abused themselves-When they were children themselves, their parents might have abused them and they grew up thinking that that is how they should treat their children.
- Parents using alcohol or drugs heavily-Alcohol and drugs can influence their behavior towards their children as well.
- Poor child/parent relationships-The parent has no love for their child and acts that way towards them. They ignore them and spend no time with them, which makes the child feel unwanted and not needed, which could possibly lead to suicide.
- A lack of parenting skills-The parents could be very young and inexperienced and not be able to raise the child right, which can lead to abuse because the parent does not know how to disipline the child or deal with them when they are difficult.
- Mental Issues-Parents with mental issues like depression, anxiety or PTSD. These issues can influence how they deal with their child, and can cause bad behavior.
